Tara Uzra Dawood, President of the Dawood Global Foundation and Founder of LADIESFUND® Energy Ltd, has been honored with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) CAREC Gender and Green Innovation Award 2025 at a prestigious ceremony held at the Sheraton Hotel in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic. The award recognizes her exceptional leadership in advancing gender equality through green innovation and sustainable technology.
Key partners for the CAREC Awards include the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), OSCE Academy, and Unison Group. This honor highlights Pakistan’s growing global reputation for empowering women through climate-conscious entrepreneurship.
Earlier in March 2025, Ms. Dawood received national recognition from Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif for leading one of Pakistan’s top private companies for women, as evaluated by the SECP, UNFPA, Pakistan Business Council, and the Federal Ministry for Human Rights.
“Congratulations to Ms. Dawood for her visionary leadership of LADIESFUND Energy, combining gender equality goals with green innovation for transformative solar solutions,” said Samantha Hung, Director of ADB’s Gender Equality Division.
Through the Dawood Global Foundation and LADIESFUND®, Ms. Dawood has pioneered initiatives that empower women, promote environmental sustainability, and foster inclusive economic growth. Her vision of engaging Pakistani female engineers in rooftop solarization—once met with skepticism—has evolved into a thriving, impactful enterprise.
Speaking at the CAREC Women’s Business Forum on the panel “From Evidence to Action – Advancing Gender and Green Innovation,” Ms. Dawood impressed international experts with her insights. Her recognition under the CAREC Climate Pathways initiative underscores her unwavering commitment to building a sustainable, equitable future where women’s empowerment and environmental progress go hand in hand.
